 We will all go over 11.5 Acids and Bases... HW is 11-5 and to go to playposit.com and complete the assignment (due Friday) over Acids and bases.

 

ALL HW WILL BE GRADED ON FRIDAY!

Today we will review 11.3 and work a couple of HW problems

 

Then we will discuss 11.4 Colligative Properties and I will give time for HW.

Today we will review stoichiometry and percent yield. Then we will discuss 10.5 Gas stoichiometry. Your HW will be 10.5 which is on the same page as 10.4.

Today we went over 10.2 Stoichiometry Calculations and continued to work on the HW. 

 

Please do your HW for this unit. It is difficult. I can meet in VIP or you can use google or youtube to find videos over stoichiometry. 

Today we met in the computer lab and did the practice EOC for Chemistry. 

 

We then reviewed Mole Ratios (10.1) and worked on some HW problems. Some classes had time to continue into 10.2. We will work on that Friday.

Today you will be taking notes over 10.1 Introduction to Stoichiometry and 10.2 Solving Stoichiometry Problems Be sure to watch the videos. I need you to complete the form at the end of each to show you finished the notes.

Today we will be going over oxidation-reduction reactions, we will also review Molar Mass and start talking about Percent Composition (see sway below).

Today we went over assigning oxidation numbers using the rules. 

HW: Complete page 1 of the packet. Skip 11-12 right now. 

Today is your Chemical reactions Lab. You will go through six stations and perform experiments that show all 5 reaction types, plus a neutralization (fancy double replacement). 

 

You will be predicting products, writing equations, and balancing today.

 

HW: Honors will do a 1 page summary of the lab, include all stations. 

 

Everyone will complete HW 9-1 in the new HW packet, which is going to be worked in as one of the stations.

Today we will review Types of Reactions. 

 

I will give a grade for pages 2, 4 & 5 in the HW packet.

 

We will go over Predicting products.

 

Quiz tomorrow over balancing, writing formulas, and types of reactions.

Today we will review how to write equations from word equations. Then I will go over the 5 reaction types. 8.4-8.5 Sway

 

HW: complete all pages in the HW packet (including type of reaction) EXCEPT for page 3. We will do that on Thursday/Friday. 

 

You will have a quiz on Friday. Be sure you've done the study.com assignments. They were due on SUNDAY!

Due to the state wrestling tournament, we will be using today as a work day. I expect page 2 and 4 completed by next week. You also have 3 study.com assignments to do.

Today we will go over writing word equations, using state labels if the information is given. You will still need to balance the equations when they are written. See the sway below for more help.

Today we will begin taking notes over Unit 8: Writing Chemical Equations. We will practice writing out an equation and begin balancing them.

Today we will briefly review Unit 7: Ionic and Covalent Bonding

 

We will then take the Mid Quarter Benchmark which counts as a Quiz grade. 

First we will finish going over the HW for this unit. 

 

Today we will spend about 30 mintues allowing people to finish study.com assignments and doing the online quizzes (these count as classwork).

Today we went over drawing Lewis Structures for Covalent Compounds. We also went over naming Covalent Compounds. 

 

If we had time, we went over Polar vs. NonPolar Bonds. This will become important when discussing properties of compounds.

Today we went over naming Ionic Compounds (POGIL), including transition metals. Then we continued to discuss Polyatomic Ions.

Today we will review ion formation and you will start to practice drawing Ionic Compounds and writing formulas.

We will finish 7.1 Intro to Chemical Bonding. You will complete the Identifying Ionic & Covalent Bonds WS in class (what isn't finished is HW). 

 

We will be discussing 7.2 Ions and Ionic Bonding. You will learn how to make Ions from each element and how they bond. You will also see what the ratios in the formulas come from. 

 

We will begin Ionic Bonds Practice WS in class. What isn't finished is HW. 

 

HW: 2 study.coms over Ion Formation and Writing Ionic Compounds. Please be sure to watch the videos and it should only take around 20 minutes. 

Today we took some time to talk about the Science section of the ACT. We did some online practice and discussed timing. 

 

We then  watched a review study.com over the octet rule and dot Lewis Dot diagrams.

We then will do a review WS over Lewis Dot Notation (electron Dot Notation).

Today we graded the Electron Config. WS and Speed... WS. Then we did the  Q2 Benchmark and you received your midterm Review. See me for all of the work. 

Today we did a Periodic Trends POGIL. This served as the notes for 6.3

Today we are going to quickly go over 5.7 Nuclear Radiation and 5.8 Nuclear Stability and Half-Life.

We finished up how to do Bohr Models and how to draw Lewis Dot Diagrams.

Today you will independently take notes over 5.6 History of the Periodic Table. 

 

We will do a brief activity over the early atomic models and we will discuss the periodic table.

Today you will turn in your completed lab (7th has until Tuesday- include paper).

 

We will take a diagnostic benchmark to see where you are. If you do not pass, I will be pulling you during VIP next week to work on material. If you are not in class, please take it here. Use only your periodic table. 

 

We will then  complete 5.3 (Modern Atomic Theory) and try to go over 5.6 History of the Periodic Table.

Today I will briefly discuss 5.1 and 5.2 which you hopefully took notes on Monday. 

 

Then I will go over 5.3 Modern Atomic Theory (most of this is review).
